Name: Lt. Anna Yegorova
Dates: 1916-2009
Why she rocks: She was a pilot in the Red Army Air Force during WWII, flying reconnaissance and delivery missions for the 130th Air Liaison Squadron in a wooden biplane. When her plane was shot down by German Forces in 1944, she was badly injured and suffered broken bones, burns, and internal injuries. People presumed she was dead, when in reality she was recovering in a prison of war camp. She was finally liberated in 1945, and in 1965, she was awarded the award for “The Hero of the Soviet Union”.
Because of this woman… this badass helped stop the Germans during WWII!
